Group Renga

‘Renga’ are poems which consist of 6 stanzas. The stanzas alternate in line groups of 3 and 2: 3-2-3-2-3-2.

The way I learned them at last year’s Poetry Jam is that the first line is a Haiku, but it’s written all out as one line.

Then, the first person to contribute completes the first stanza by adding two lines.

The paper is passed on and the second person writes the next stanza (of two lines).

Pass it on again and the next person writes the third stanza (three lines).

The fourth person, fourth stanza: 2 lines.

Etc.

You do not need to know what the people before you MEANT or INTENDED.  The meaning(s) get to be different for everyone.  Just go with it.

If you want to contribute to a Renga here, copy the poem as it exists before you and then add your stanza. That way, we can more easily keep track of how they go.
